Welcome to a crafting extravaganza all week featuring myself and other Artists In Residence from IMAGINE Crafts, along with the Design Team Members of Authentique Paper and May Arts Ribbon.

This week I got to combine so many of my favorite things – ribbons of different textures and sizes, beautiful paper with imaginative designs, and shimmering inks and creative medium – I found a plain kraft container and knew it was ready for a new look!

Of course I couldn’t just cover the outside, continue through the post to see the surprise inside!

Supplies:
IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko Creative Medium Shimmer; Delicata Golden Glitz; Sheer Shimmer Spritz; Daubers
Authentique Harmony & Radiant Paper
May Arts Ribbon – string & checkered ribbon
Sizzix Camellia die
Punches: Martha Stewart butterflies; EK Success large butterfly

Cut strips of paper to cover top and sides of container and adhere with Creative Medium. Trim ‘love and life will love you back’ badge from Authentique’s card making stack and adhere to side with creative medium – while I was adhering the badge, I tucked pieces of ribbon under the side edges, careful not to glue them to the sides as well. Once it all dried, I tied the ribbon to a bow on the backside.

Next, punch 20 or so small butterflies, a few larger butterflies, and die cut 3 full camellias using a variety of paper designs. Using a dauber, lightly cover and edge with Delicata Golden Glitz.

Here’s the surprise inside!

After punching about 20 small butterflies, I attached them to May Arts twine of various lengths. I punched holes in a circle cut to fit the bottom of the container and threaded the strings and secured to bottom of the container.

This way the butterflies will fly out each time I open the box but they won’t fly away!

To finish I adhered the camellias to the lid, layering the sizes and curling the petals slightly – lastly adding a butterfly resting on top of the flower & a bit of ribbon to the edges.

I like to think that wherever this will be, I’ll just need to glance at it, and knowing there’s a surprise inside will make me smile.
